The Details

Futures primarily selects students during the end of eighth grade. If your student decides to apply and is accepted, the Futures program will provide college mentoring throughout high school and, in most circumstances, pay a portion of college costs.  Help with tuition is, of course, a big financial benefit to a family, but just as important is the extra guidance that your student receives when planning for higher education.  Monthly group meetings with the coordinator are mandatory, as are speaker engagements.

In order to be considered for admission, an application must be completed.  This includes a student essay, teacher recommendations, information about family and finances, and a 2022 tax return. Grades are reviewed. Your student may be invited to interview with a small committee during the school day.  After interviewing, Futures will determine admission to the program.  If invited, students will become a part of Futures and will attend monthly group meetings, individual meetings and engage in annual volunteer work.

First generation students are our priority, and income is also a deciding factor. Please be aware that there are income limits for Futures. If your student qualifies for free or reduced lunch, you can apply to Futures.  For a family of two, yearly income cannot exceed $51,100; for a family of three the limit is $64,550; and for a family of four it is $78,000.  Add an additional $13,450 for each family member over four.  Let us know if you have any extenuating family circumstances if your income falls slightly outside of this range, but be aware that acceptance to the program is based on these guidelines.
